    2014 Captina Creek 5K

On Saturday, September 20th, 2014 the Belmont Soil & Water Conservation District will hold a Captina Creek 5K and Family Day at Barkcamp State Park. Runners and walkers will enjoy the scenic trails and compete for exciting prizes. Non-runners and family members will have an opportunity to learn about natural resource conservation by visiting several exhibitors with informational and interactive displays. These exhibitors include businesses, nonprofit organizations, and agencies from all around the state and the Ohio Valley region. Proceeds generated from runner registration fees will benefit watershed and conservation educational programs for Belmont County youth.

Captina Creek is comparable to some of the best quality streams in Ohio and has been identified as an Outstanding State Water due to its exceptional biodiversity. The Creek is also home to 56 different species of fish and supports a wide range of wildlife from bobcats and otters to smallmouth bass and kingfishers. The Captina Creek 5K and Family Day is intended to promote the Creek as an exceptional natural resource in the state and help promote conservation awareness, recreation, and tourism in Belmont County.

Runners and walkers must be present by 8:45 AM on race day. The race starts at 9:00 AM and the Family Day activities will be held from 9:00 AM – 12:00 PM. Barkcamp State Park is located at 65330 Barkcamp Park Road, Belmont, OH 43718.
